Simon Watson's Seminar in Hertfordshire

Simon's seminar in Feb

Simon Watson's Daoyin Seminar was held on Saturday the 22nd of February 2014.

This year's seminar covered the 12 Movement Daoyin form. This form was devised for the Chinese Healthe Qigong Association and was the first exercise in their curriculum devised by a living master. The CHQA has also produced a book on the form.

As the 12 Movement form is a popular one, made up of exercises taken from other Daoyin Yangsheng Gong forms most people were familiar with the movements already. This gave simon the opportunity to go into some of the principles of Daoyin Yangsheng Gong, the cultural background of the exercises and their names and the Chinese medical theory involved in more detail.

Many of the attendees were teachers who brought out further details through their questions durning the day.

Professor Zhang is steeped in Chinese culture and chooses the names of his exercises from Chinese folklore and classics such as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in order to emphasise some aspect of what each movement is meant to achieve. Try typing some of the names into a web search engine and you will find lots of stories relating to the names.
